in class exercise!

so this is what i've deen doing in class..
last tuesday was a lesson in juxtaposition, so this is what we've created

brief explanation :

so there are 2 sets of words, each sets contain 10 word, and we have to number the words according to the instruction.

then we have to choose 3 numbers, mine was 22, 64, and 91

then based on the number and the words, you'll get 2 words.

my words are

22. lightning rock
64. duck mountain
91. leave water

and afterward, you have to create a sentence that contain the 2 wo rds

mine was :

22. "no lightning can destroy rock"
64. "there's a duck on to
p of the mountain"
91. "4 leaves will cut you water fountain"

then we have to draw a picture that describe the word.

you can see mine on the image above, but sorry for the scan quality..

after this, we have to create an image that describe the words..
but it has to be only an image

such as this one

Lightning Rock

Duck Mountain

Leave Water

iamnotanartist

lookie!

i found this really cool GIF that tells us about the non-stop designer work

pretty cool eh?

and there's at least 50 more on this website

http://www.imnotanartist.org/index.php

check it out!

creative ambient ads

i found this ads from the internet,

i really like this ad, because if the sun isn't there, then the writing doesn't make sense at all, but when the sun is up, you can read the shadows, which said

"take a break from the sun"

it would be funnier if it said

"if you can read this, then u need a break from the sun"

but i imagine that this would need more space

anyway this is actually an ad for "Peter MacCallum Cancer Center"

so 2 thumbs up!

Logical Mind Map

mind mapping is pouring your thought into a piece of paper, it might sound similar to brainstorming, but mind mapping is different, because you have to put a connection between everything that you write/draw and the main concept / topic that you are mind mapping about. here's an example of what i mean by "connection"

every word have to have a connection, so it's not just a paper filled with your writing or drawing. by doing this, your force your brain to think what other connetion can be put into the center topic. this is a great way to generate ideas and by doing this it is possible to think up an idea that you may not found before. there are 2 ways of craeting a mind map, which are
LOGICAL MIND MAP TECHNIQUE
and ASSOCIATED MIND MAP TECHNIQUE

Logical Mind Map is directly connected to stereotypes. The Logical mind map comprises of solely stereotype words. Which means that every word or image that is put within the mind map is directly related to the central subject through its links.

Associated Mind Map
is using an associated mind map we are able to generate random words and also show the links between words that seemingly have no connection.

the main difference is when we use the Logical mindmap, we use word that are connected stereotypically with the topic, meanwhile we use a more random words for the associated mindmap.

Novelty, Creativity, Invention, Innovation

so here's 4 word that are connected to each other.

but first, here's my definition of each of the word

Creativity : it's on my older post, please read it there..

Novelty means something new or unusual (based on merriam-webster)

Invention is the process of producing or finding

Innovation is the introduction of something new

and here's the connection

by thinking creatively, you'll find some new ideas or thought (novelty) and from that thought, you create something, and you have an invention, which will lead to innovation because you'll have to introduce that ideas to the public.

creativity is the foundation of invention, innovation, and novelty.

and the example is all around us,
the easiest is the ipod.

newer ipod is always being introduced to the public, until the create an even greater gadget, such the the iphone and the ipad, and who knows what will they introduce next? (except for people working at the apple company)

Defining Creativity

What is creativity?

in my opinion, creativity is the ability to create.
but this does not mean that creative people is able to make a pen out of nothing, no that would be magic, or maybe even godly power. what i mean by "the ability to create" is making a new thing, like the invention of door. yes door.

i think that door is a great idea, even though it is just a piece of wood, it gives you security, it limits your view, it's like a barrier or a shield from the "outside", and yet it is just a piece of wood (or steel, or maybe even glass). and you can go in and out through it, and if you don't want people to go in or out, you can just lock it.

this is what i mean by creative, the inventor of doors does not make door out of thin air, he uses a simple, everyday material and use it as a barrier, thus he "create" a door.

this is what i mean by creative, the ability to create something out of existing material, or even a new material.

and that is my definition of creativity, the ability to create.
